About us
The IHS Foundation exists to honor the legacy of Elenique and Noah, two lives cut short, yet whose love continues to inspire meaningful action. The Foundation is committed to supporting cancer awareness, education, and compassionate care. Our goal is to serve as an extension of cancer societies in Curacao and any community where we can bring hope to individuals facing a challenging cancer journey.
One of our main initiatives is our
Cancer Care Boxes
They’re meant to offer comfort, practical support, and a little emotional encouragement to patients going through treatment.
I want to share a moment that really stayed with me. While I was in treatment myself, I was sitting and talking with another patient. She noticed my mastectomy pillow and said, “That looks so comfortable. Where did you get it?” I casually told her I ordered it online and mentioned the price.
She looked down at the pillow she was holding against her chest and said, “Well, my pillow will have to do. I can’t afford one.”
That moment stayed with me. I had to find a purpose to all of this. Yes, a purpose, a transformation was in the works: to let others know they’re not alone. We’ve walked in their shoes, and
we’re not going to let them walk this journey by themselves. Nikki was still alive then, and she loved the idea.
Now, more than ever, my purpose, our purpose, had been re-born. That’s really where the idea for the care boxes was born. There’s so much need out there, and sometimes it’s the smallest
comforts that mean the most.
